Internship Job Description
Latah Alliance on Mental Illness (LAMI) is a local, grassroots, multidimensional non-profit agency advocating for the rights of and services for individuals with mental illness and those who support them. LAMI educates the community regarding mental illness, promotes community inclusion, works to destigmatize mental illness, and advocates for personal wellness.
Internship Responsibilities including but not limited to….

Participate in some or all three of LAMI’s programs: Alliance House, WRAP, and Education, Outreach and Advocacy

Alliance House: Socialize with residents, encourage community-based activities, play games, learn about individual interests, maintain weekly visits to the house, attend house meetings on Tuesdays at 1:00pm, collaborate with House Director, communicate weekly with house director

Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP): Attend weekly peer led support group in Moscow at the 1912 Center on Wednesdays 4:00-5:00, assist with planning and preparing weekly activities, socialize with WRAP members, manage attendance tracker, promote WRAP on social media, collaborate with WRAP coordinator, communicate weekly with WRAP coordinator, gather materials for weekly meetings

Education, Outreach & Advocacy: Promote mental health and wellbeing by attending health fairs, speaking events, and community activities, proactively work towards destigmatizing mental illness through education and advocacy, promote the work of LAMI, collaborate with chair of EOA committee to plan and attend EOA events, gather materials for events, support QPR Suicide Prevention training led by LAMI

Schedule and coordinate speaking engagements

Write press releases and other PR materials, as needed

Assist with mailings and print production

Create advocacy materials

Compile contact lists

Update the LAMI website and social media regularly

Solid understanding of social media and creative media outlets

Monitor all forms of media for the agency

Requirements

Personal transportation available or regular trips to Moscow
-
Experience working with community-based programming, adults with mental illness, support groups, advocacy work

Human Development, Psychology, Sociology, Public Relations, Health Promotion, Communications, Marketing majors

REQUIRED Meeting attendance:
-
Tuesdays, 1:00 House Meeting at house
-
Wednesdays, 4:00-5:00pm, WRAP Meeting at 1912 Center
-
3rd Monday of each month 4:30-6:00pm, Board of Directors meeting at Café Artista

Weekly meetings with intern supervisor, House Director, EOA Committee Chair, and/or WRAP Coordinator
